In the framework of the Dialogue on Mediterranean Transit Migration (MTM), an informal and action-orientated intergovernmental dialogue on migration between African, Arab, and European States, the project Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) serves as a support instrument by promoting and facilitating access to and exchange of information on migration matters between participating states.
Since their independence, the majority of African countries, most notably those of West and Central Africa, are facing a deficit of organisational and technical skills to manage and secure their land and sea borders.

The economic and social effects of migration in their original contexts are at the heart of relationships and synergies between migration and development covered by the principal international dialogue taking place, such as that of the Rabat Process.
